Distinguish the Grok app, bot and Imagine API
The Imagine documentation covers image and video generation and editing through the API. The bot media guide documents separate image and clip features. Do not treat these access routes as identical capability packages. Sources checked October 25, 2026.
Our assessment: for one draft, the interface actually available matters more than a long feature comparison. A recurring process also needs handoffs, error handling and storage. First record who supplies material and where the approved output is needed. Then decide whether manual creation is sufficient or an integration would provide a clear, assessable benefit.
Prepare the brief and references before generation
Our proposed brief records the intended use, audience, subject, crop and rejection criteria. Add the details that must remain unchanged. An abstract background illustration needs different acceptance criteria from a product photograph. The documentation supports image references; check suitable inputs for the selected model in the image editing guide.
Prepare an approved selection before uploading. Record its origin, permitted use and responsible person. Keep confidential drafts and personal imagery out of an initial test. If rights or consent are unclear, ask the responsible reviewer to resolve them before use. In our workflow, technical acceptance of an upload does not establish that the material is approved for the intended purpose.
Assess image and video options against the deliverable
The provider documents several API image and video models with different options. Check the current overview and video documentation for the model actually selected. An option listed there should not automatically be assumed to exist in every bot account. As checked on October 25, 2026, the Imagine overview lists, for example, grok-imagine-image-2.0 with up to five source images per edit and grok-imagine-video-1.5; it describes videos of up to 15 seconds.
For the pilot, compare a few variants using the same brief. Review subject fidelity, cropping and relevant details in images. For video, also inspect movement, transitions and problematic individual frames. Watch the entire clip; an attractive preview is insufficient. Consider whether editing or adding captions would be better completed in a tool designed for those tasks.
Measure Grok Imagine cost per accepted output
The API pricing page distinguishes image, input and video charges; model and output settings affect cost. We do not state a blanket price for a finished business asset. Recheck current pricing before a paid test, and record subscription access separately from API billing.
Set a maximum number of attempts and assign a person to approve further spending. Also record handling time, selection and corrections. A low-cost generation step may still require substantial rework, and a rejected draft is not a published output. We therefore recommend comparing the effort per accepted asset, including review and export, rather than judging the workflow by generation cost alone. Decide in advance when the test ends. If the agreed criteria are not met within the small trial budget, review the brief first. Commission further variants deliberately instead of repeating the same unresolved request without a defined stopping point.
Review product details and claims before publication
Before testing, assign someone to review accuracy and someone to approve final use. Where relevant, compare visible dimensions, components, finishes and text with approved references. An invented detail can make a product depiction unsuitable. Identify conceptual illustrations in the brief so they are not accidentally used as documentary photographs. Acceptance should reflect the communication the asset is intended to support.
Our recommended acceptance record includes the output file, review date, changes and remaining limitations. Resolve uncertainty about personal rights, trademarks or whether a depiction is permissible before publication. Check generated text and visible numbers separately. For each channel, inspect the actual crop rather than simply copying the same file into multiple formats and assuming the message still works.
Store approved files with a clear working record
We recommend one identifiable version of the accepted asset and a separate area for rejected drafts. Record the brief, tool used, reviewer and permitted use. Retain only the materials your process needs within the agreed scope. Someone reviewing the work later should be able to understand why this file was approved and whether a change requires another review.
Our Grok Bot setup service can place this media process within a bounded bot brief, with pricing on request. This page’s decorative hero comes from our image system generated with Codex. It is not a demonstration created with Grok or evidence of a client result. Implementation and support are provided independently by lol.marketing LLC. Frequently asked questions
What should an initial media brief contain?
We recommend the intended use, subject, format and clear rejection criteria. Add approved references and identify the person reviewing the result. A clear brief makes it easier to decide which variants are usable.
How should the pilot’s value be assessed?
Compare the entire effort per accepted asset: creation, selection, rework, accuracy checks and export. This shows whether the workflow is useful for your actual task.
When may a draft be published?
In our proposed workflow, only after documented accuracy review and clearance for the intended use. If the subject, message or relevant crop changes, the responsible person should reassess the affected points.
Keep it verifiable
